Steven Rae Bergene, 57, of Irving, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018. He was born on January 24, 1961 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Robert and Margaret Bergene, his parents preceded him in death. Steve grew up in El Cajon, California, and at the age of 18 he jumped in his truck and moved to the Metroplex. Steve had a beautiful daughter in 1985 from a previous marriage. Then in 1994 he married the love of his life, Christine, and had 2 more beautiful girls. Steve was an accomplished Trim Carpenter for 30 plus years in the DFW area. He was an avid sports enthusiast, he coached, watched and played all sports. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold’ em and roulette, and also betting on the ponies. Steve was a “Big Kid” at heart who loved his soft serve ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family and he cared for all of them deeply. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Christine Bergene; daughters, Destinee Bergene and husband, Adrian Macias, Kursten Bergene, and Mackenzie Bergene; siblings, Hugh Bergene and wife, Dalylene Carlton, Rene Pattwell and husband, John, Erika Johnson; grandson, AJ Macias; step mother, Donna Bergene; 3 nephews; 1 niece; 1 great nephew; 1 great niece; among numerous other family and close friends. Steve will be deeply missed and will always be known as “The Man, The Myth, The Legend…….The Berg.”
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 28th at 1:00 pm in The Chism-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America,
