Obituary

Elby McComas III, age 68 of Irving, Texas passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. He was born on February 23, 1950, in Huntington, West Virginia to Elby and Rebecca McComas. They both preceded him in death along with his brother Wendell McComas and grandson Jackson Cochran. Elby married the love of his life, Jimmie Stafford on August 3, 1968, in Dallas, Texas. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing and was a brick mason by trade. Elby was also an insomniac and spent the wee hours of the morning playing video games and watching anime. He was a quiet man but an expert in telling very funny corny jokes. Elby was a man that loved his family and would help anyone that needed his help. Elby leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Jimmie McComas; sons, Elby McComas IV and wife Candace, Elby McComas V and wife Adrianna; daughters, Sherri Atkins and husband Matthew, Angelique Williams and husband Bryan, JoAnn Moss; sisters, Connie McComas, Rebecca Cook; grandchildren, Robin, Trey, Kendall, Cody, Pierce, Sydnei, Bailey, Rylee, Maddie and Joshua; 6 great-grandchildren; and nieces Amber and Rosie, nephews Jay,Nick and Andrew, cousins and friends. The family will receive guests for Visitation on Tuesday, February 19th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Chism-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 20th also at Chism-Smith Funeral Home.
