Obituary

Joseph Lucien Leopold Mayer, age 81 of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019. He was born in Salisbury, Vermont to Armand and Jeanne Mayer on October 7, 1937. His parents both preceded him in death along with a son Matthew and sister Henrietta Lucien Olmstead. Joseph graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Brattleboro, VT. He served in the United States Army and after he was discharged he went on to own his own paper shop in Vermont. He went on to be a salesman and ended up being a night auditor before his retirement. Joseph met the love of his life while he was traveling in the Philippines and married Patria Fegarido on November 18, 1990. Together they enjoyed traveling around the world. He was a baseball and football fan and really enjoyed country music. He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Patria Mayer; daughters, Via and Jonna Mayer; grandson, Leo Fernandez-Mayer; siblings, Darlene Mayer Hutchinson, Ernest Bishop, Roland Bishop and John Bishop. The family will receive friends from 2:30 - 5:30 on Sunday, March 3rd at Chism-Smith Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 4:30 on Sunday. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 4th also at Chism-Smith Funeral Home.
