Obituary

James Thomas Gilliam, age 90, of Irving, Texas passed away om Saturday, October 7th, 2017. He was born on March 7th, 1927 in Mannsville, Oklahoma, to Levi and Myrtle Gilliam. In 1945 James enlisted in the Army and was a World War II Veteran. He then went to work for Western Union for 41 plus years till he retired at the age of 62. James loved to play domino's with his church friends, and eating pecans. He even planted a bunch of pecan trees from him and the squirrels to enjoy. He was an avid golfer and storyteller. James loved to share his life stories with anyone who would listen. He got very attached to Molly, his cat, but most of all James loved spending time with his family .He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend that will be dearly missed. James is preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Myrtle Gilliam; wife, Billie Gilliam; daughter, Donna Levy; one brother; and four sisters. He is survived by his two sons, Steven Gilliam and wife, Betty, Paul Gilliam and wife, Joy; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; among numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15th from 3-5 pm at Chism Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, October 16 at Beltline Road Church of Christ in Irving. Interment will immediately follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
