Russell Richard Bender passed away in Dallas, Texas on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born to Robert and Edith Bender on October 6, 1939, in Hiawatha, Kansas. He lived in the Kansas City area for almost half of his life before moving to Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Reeda Squires, his son, Curtis Bender,his daughter, Lori Bender Anguiano, his grandchildren, Shellie Lynn Sutton, Anthony Sutton, William Sutton, Jennifer Anguiano, Michael Anguiano and his great grandson, Eric Anguiano. He is also survived by his best friend of over 80 years, Dick Fischer.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia “Pat” Smith Bender, his son, Ronald Russell, and his daughter, Belinda “Shelley” Bender Sutton.
After High School he served a short time in the Navy and then followed in his dad’s footsteps and became a Barber. The majorityof Russell’s professional life was devoted to the transportation industry. From Owner-Operator, Management, Sales, Dispatching, as well as driving all manner of trucks, delivering all sorts of goods and commodities throughout the country; finally retiring just a few years back, after delivering new RV travel trailers or a number ofyears.
He and his wife, Reeda, are members of the Webb Chapel Church of Christ, where he enjoyed attending services and fellowship. He also enjoyed going to The Farmers Branch Senior Center where he and Reeda met 2 years ago.
