Beverly Louise Richards, a cherished figure in the community and a beloved family member, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 101. Born on October 29, 1923, in Humboldt, Kansas, Beverly made her home in Irving, Texas, in 1957, where she dedicated much of her life to serving others.
Throughout her career, Beverly was a devoted teacher at the First United Methodist Church’s daycare program, impacting the lives of countless children and families over a remarkable span of at least 30 years. Her contributions to the community extended beyond the classroom as she held the esteemed position of past president of the Irving Ladies Lions and was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Irving Chapter 777. Beverly's involvement with these organizations reflected her deep commitment to service and community engagement.
Beverly was not only passionate about her work but also had a vibrant spirit that shone through in her hobbies. She loved square dancing and spent many joyful years as a member of a square dancing club, sharing laughter and camaraderie with her husband fellow dance enthusiasts.
Beverly was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Richards, and her beloved grandson, Kenneth Nearn. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by her daughter, Linda Nearn; her son, Marc and his wife Leilane Richards, her half-sister, Arlene Jack, her husband Danny with three daughters, grandsons Brad Richards and Gregory, wife Adrienne and daughter Lillian Richards.
A visitation in honor of Beverly will be held at the Chism-Smith Funeral Home located at 403 South Britain Road, Irving, TX, 75060, on May 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location starting at 11:30 AM and concluding at 12:30 PM. Beverly will then be laid to rest at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX, 75211, with the burial ceremony commencing at 1:30 PM.
As we celebrate Beverly’s remarkable life, we remember her unwavering dedication, her warm spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her. Her impact would be felt for generations to come, leaving behind beautiful memories that will be cherished by family and friends alike.
