Donna Jayne Hoskins

Donna Jayne Hoskins, cherished resident of Denton and former longtime member of the Irving community, passed away on July 28, 2026, at the age of 91. Donna was born on July 1, 1935 and lived a life defined by faith, love, and devoted service to her family and community.

A woman of deep conviction and unwavering commitment, Donna dedicated herself to her beloved husband, Billy O. "Bo" Hoskins, with whom she shared an extraordinary bond of 71 years. Together, they were foundational members of both the Irving Bible Church and the Community Bible Church of Irving. Donna’s devotion to these congregations was evident in the many ways she served: as a Sunday School teacher, through her enthusiastic involvement in women’s ministries, as a Vacation Bible School director, as a leader in the Pioneer Girls program, on the missions committee, and as a soloist whose voice echoed her heartfelt faith until it was no longer possible.

Donna's spiritual journey began after her sophomore year in high school, when she turned her heart to Christ—a decision which became the cornerstone of her life. Her relationship with her Savior was paramount, and she held a steadfast commitment to the body of Christ. She believed in the church as God’s instrument for spreading the gospel and serving His people, and she poured her energy into supporting the work and fellowship of her church communities. Upon moving to Denton in 2014, Donna became an active member of Denton Bible Church, faithfully attending Senior adult Sunday School and church services, and giving her time to Impact Ministries.

Donna’s dedication extended into her community and family life as well. She was a 1953 graduate of Irving High School, where she was recognized as valedictorian, Rotary Girl of the Year, and Honor Thespian. Donna graced the stage with leading roles in several high school operettas and continued to share her musical gifts in church, as well as with the Irving Woman's Chorus and The Irving Civic Chorus until her voice could no longer keep up with her spirit.

Among her many contributions, Donna found great joy serving as Chairman of the Education/Schools Committee on Irving's Centennial Task Force during the city's centennial celebration in 2003. Her leadership played a vital role in organizing Historical Bus Tours for Irving ISD teachers, establishing a Speakers Bureau to bring local history to schools and civic groups, and producing historical videos about Irving for educational use.

Donna was deeply committed to her roles as wife and mother and treasured the time spent nurturing her family. She is survived by her husband, Bo Hoskins; her sister, Rena Stevens of The Woodlands; her three sons—Pastor Larry N. Hoskins and wife Janet of Chesapeake, Virginia; Bradley G. Hoskins and wife Patty of Flower Mound, Texas; and Randal K. Hoskins of Fort Worth, Texas. She was the proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren and great-grandmother to sixteen great-grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Coltrell and Mellnora Coltrell Gregory, her step-father Donald V. Gregory, and her twin brother, Donald G. Cottrell. Their memories live on in the love and legacy Donna leaves behind.

A memorial service celebrating Donna Jayne Hoskins’ life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on August 4, 2026, at Community Bible Church, 2301 Texas Drive, Irving, TX 75062.

Donna Jayne Hoskins' life was one of steadfast faith, tireless service, and an overflowing love for her family, friends, and community. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her example and legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
