Garry Lynn Wood, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on January 28, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, Garry was raised in Irving, where he became known for his vibrant personality and his dedication to the community around him.
As a proud graduate of Nimitz High School, Garry embarked on a successful career in quality control at Deluxe Check Printing Company, where he worked for 24 years. He earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues, who regarded him not just as a co-worker but as a cherished friend.
Garry's life was rich with interests and passions. He was an avid fisherman, a spirited bowler, and a devoted fan of baseball and the Dallas Cowboys. Music played a significant role in his life, with Lynyrd Skynyrd standing out as his favorite band. Additionally, Garry found joy in small pleasures such as spending time with his dogs and indulging in ice cream. He was particularly known and loved for his role as a youth baseball coach, where he inspired countless young athletes.
On July 2, 2004, Garry married Cari Christine Wood, who has been by his side through all of life’s joys and challenges. Together, they shared a life filled with love and laughter.
Garry is survived by his wife, Cari; his sons, Donny Lynn Wood and wife Staci Schwartz, and Kerry Lee Wood and wife Sarah Wood; his stepson, Rees Scruggs II; and his grandchildren, Justin Wood, Katherine Wood, Charlotte Wood, Jacob Wood, and Asher Maxwell Scruggs. He also leaves behind his brother, Robert Wood, and multiple nieces and nephews who will carry forward his spirit and legacy.
Garry was preceded in death by his father, Allen Perry Wood, and his mother, Imadean Louise Wood. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
