Gary’s Journey
Gary Todd Doss was the oldest of two children born on May 25, 1967 in Dallas, Texas to his beloved parents, James and LeRuth Doss.
Gary was raised in a home of love, care, and a strong foundation that valued high moral principles and standards of excellence in everything you say and do in life. This guidance and love helped to shape the man he became. Garygraduated from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, Dallas in May, 1985.
Gary accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in his teenage years while attending services with extended family that lived in the neighborhood. Gary later reaffirmed his faith in The Lord and would boldly proclaim his love for Christ which gives us reassurance of his eternal home in heaven with the Lord.
Gary joined the United States Army in 1987. Gary served his county for nearly three years and received honorable discharge in 1990 for his active duty with the grade rank of PV1 with a specialty, Tank Turrnet Mechanic.
Gary was so skillful with his hands. Gary was known for cutting hair for the neighborhood kids. Gary was an avid sport enthusiast and could play a great game of basketball with his left-hand shots. Gary would work on any item that required it to be wired, fixed, or repaired. His joy sometimes was simply to just take something apart out of curiosity and put it back together.
Gary had strong pride in one job that he held at Goodwill Industries of Dallas. Gary worked there for nine years with increasing responsibly until his final role as Facilities Director.
Gary had no biological children, but he took great honor in being uncle to his nephew and niece who affectionately called him, “Uncle G.” He also played an instrumental role in the lives of his wife’s children and grandchildren that loved him immensely. Gary had a special bond with one grandson, Isaiah, whom he and Terri raised from six-months old until he was five. Gary was PaPa! Isaiah was there with others by his side until Gary’s final farewell on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gary met the love of his life and his soulmate, Terri Girard thirteen years ago and they endured the ups and downs of life hardships together as one. They were united in holy matrimony and Terri made certain that Gary was safe, cared for, and loved until the very end of his life’s journey.
Those remaining to cherish Gary’s memory are his devoted wife, Terri; her children Laura (Jessie), Lisa, and Danielle. The grandchildren: Brianna, Becca, Devin, Bianca, Ava, Nelson, Jayden, Liam, Isaiah, Edward, Xavion. Gary’s sister, Tammie (Derek) and their children, Nikolas and Baille.
