Gena Kay Quinn, a cherished matriarch of her family, was born on September 1, 1947, in Sherman, Texas. Gena grew up in Irving, Texas, where she developed a profound appreciation for the simple joys of life, centered around her family and community.

Throughout her life, Gena was defined by her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found immeasurable joy in nurturing her loved ones, always prioritizing their needs and happiness. Gena's exemplary dedication to her family was matched only by her involvement in the Groesbeck Garden Club, where she contributed her time and passion for gardening, a hobby she dearly loved, often shared with her husband, Troy. Together, they also explored new places, creating precious memories from their travels.

Gena's unwavering faith as a Baptist and her affiliation with Lifetouch Baptist Church in Irving reflected her deep spiritual convictions. She was a guiding light for many, offering kindness and support within her community and among her friends. Her ability to craft beautiful items showcased her creativity and meticulous attention to detail, bringing warmth and beauty into the lives of those she encountered.

Gena is survived by her loving son David and wife Andrea Hambright of Claremont, North Carolina, and her beloved grandchildren: Brittney Martin of Granite Falls, North Carolina; Tabitha Robinson of Golson, Texas; Kanzlyn Abraham of Granite Falls, North Carolina; Joslynn Hambright of Claremont, North Carolina: Liam Wood of Golson, Texas; and Dolton Thurman. She was also a source of great strength and inspiration to her best friend and sister, Lucille Beaty. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Randall Custer, Ralph Hambright, and Tory Quinn; her daughters, Bonnie Thurman, and Paula Knatcher; as well as her parents, Buster Haas and Mary Kirkland. Gena's life was enriched by numerous family ties and friendships that were vital to her and will continue to thrive in her memory.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the caregivers at Baylor Scott & White Irving, who provided such compassionate care during Gena’s final days, as well as the nursing home staff who supported her over the past couple of years.

A visitation will be held on January 8, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Chism-Smith Funeral Home, located at 403 South Britain Road, Irving, Texas, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM at the same venue.

Gena Kay Quinn will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, unwavering love, and the enduring impact she had on her family and friends, whose lives she touched so profoundly. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
