Gerald Lee Weg, affectionately known as Jerry, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026. Born on February 4, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, Gerald lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and an enduring spirit.

A committal service with military honors will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas, on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.

Gerald was the cherished son of the late James Frank Weg, Jr. and Nadean Looney Plemons. Raised in Denver, he was a proud graduate of Arvada High School. Following his early years, Gerald served with honor as a Seaman Apprentice, demonstrating his commitment to service.

His professional journey led him to a meaningful career as an electrical engineer, where his expertise and diligence were well respected. Beyond his vocation, Gerald was deeply involved in his community. He was a devoted member of the Trinity Valley Lodge of Masonry, where he contributed to the fraternity’s rich traditions. His faith as a Presbyterian provided him with strength and comfort throughout his life.

Jerry’s passions reflected a man who treasured both challenge and harmony. He loved the symphony, finding beauty in music that stirred the soul. Puzzles and crosswords kept his mind sharp and engaged, while fishing offered him moments of peace and reflection. A lover of trivia, he was known among friends and family for his quick wit and encyclopedic knowledge. Perhaps one of the more amusing facets of his character was his ability to eat the hottest peppers with ease, treating them as if they were mild bell peppers.

In his personal life, Gerald shared a lifelong partnership with Mary Katherine Fincher, whom he married on May 24, 1969. Together, they built a family that was central to his heart. Though Mary Katherine passed before him, their bond remained a cornerstone of his story.

Gerald is lovingly survived by his daughter, Katherine Faye Duggins and her ex-husband, Kenneth J. Duggins,  granddaughter, Katelyn Marie Duggins. Through marriage, he embraced three sons: David L. Wagoner and wife Sandra, James S. Wagoner, and Richard B. Wagoner and wife Eva. His extended family includes numerous grandchildren—Chad Wagoner, Josh Wagoner, William Thompson, Trey Wagoner, Justin Wagoner, Preston Wagoner, Jennifer Wagoner, Brittany Wagoner, Chase Tinker, and Byron Wagoner—who carry forward his legacy. Several great-grandchildren also celebrate his life and memory.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Douglas Weg; his aunts Hazel, Pearla, and Gerry; and cousin Kathy Horner.

Gerald Lee Weg’s life was one of quiet strength, generous heart, and unrelenting curiosity. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and enduring love. His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
