I’m Gregory Stuart Overland, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 26, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on September 18, 1959, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, Greg grew up in Irving, Texas, where he forged countless memories that would define his life. He was the son of William Thompson Overland and Ernestine Pappan Overland, who shaped his values and character throughout his formative years.
Greg was known for his infectious sense of humor and his unwavering dedication to those around him. Following his education, he devoted 30 years of his professional life to FedEx, where he was respected for his work ethic and commitment. He embodied the spirit of diligence and perseverance, fighting bravely through challenges until the end.
In 1984, Greg became a devoted husband to Rhonda Overland, creating a partnership rooted in love and mutual respect. Together, they raised two daughters, Chelsea and Kathryn, who reflect the kindness and strength instilled by their father. Greg was not only a guiding light for his family but also a cherished grandfather to Lillie Lopez Velarde, with whom he enjoyed sharing his passion for magic tricks—a hobby that brought joy and laughter into their lives.
Greg’s legacy extends beyond his family; he had a profound impact on friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Known for his willingness to help anyone in need, he often lent a hand to those around him, solidifying his reputation as a pillar of the community. His unwavering commitment to doing good made him a beloved figure in the lives of many.
As a Christian, he found comfort and strength in his faith, which remained steadfast throughout his life. Greg's compassionate heart and humor will be missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation will be held in his honor on July 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Methodist Church, located at 211 West 3rd Street, Irving, TX 75060, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. The burial will take place at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Boulevard, Irving, TX 75060, the same day.
Gregory Stuart Overland leaves behind a loving family and a lasting imprint on the hearts of many. His spirit will live on in the joy he spread and the lessons he imparted throughout his life.
