Lynda Sue Neal

October 11, 1953 — May 19, 2025

Lynda Sue Neal, a beloved family member, talented musician, and educator, passed away on May 19, 2025, at the age of 71. She was born in October 1953, in Ogden, Utah, and grew up in Dallas, Texas, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with faith, love, and service. Lynda lived her life for Christ and loved Jesus deeply.

Lynda was the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Maupin, and she embodied the strong Christian values of her upbringing. Attending parochial grade school and as a proud graduate of Bishop Dunne High School, she possessed an artistic spirit that flourished throughout her life. As a lover of all things beautiful, Lynda was known for her angelic voice, engaging presence, and exceptional talent in various art forms, including owning a cake decorating business, sewing, floral arrangement, watercolor painting, and Bible art journaling.

Her musical journey spanned many years, from piano lessons in grade school and performances in high school musicals to singing in choirs such as the Irving Chorale and the Dallas Opera Chorus. After raising her daughters, Lynda pursued her lifelong dream of studying music at Southern Methodist University. In her retirement, she delighted in sharing her passion for music with children and became a Musikgarten teacher, leaving a lasting impact on her grandchildren, students and her community.

Lynda married Dan Anthony Neal, on December 27, 1972. Together they pursued a life well lived - a life for Christ. They shared a powerful prayer life together. They were married almost 50 years before Dan passed away in 2020.

She is survived by her daughters, Vanessa Neal and Rachel (husband Josh) Skinner; grandchildren Sam (wife Hailey), Caleb (wife Estrella), Miriam, Ben, Maddie, Joe, Margaret, and Jack; and great-grandsons, Walter and Adrian, and a soon to be born great-granddaughter. Additionally, she is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Susan Maupin; nephews and niece Brian (wife Sarah) Maupin, Christie (husband Trevor) Shaw, and Michael (wife Stephanie) Maupin, and great-nieces and nephews, Anna, Megan, Lillian, Brandtley, Austin, Madison, Skylar, and Peyton.
