Lynda Joyce Perkins

With profound sadness and immense gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Lynda Joyce Perkins, who entered into the presence of her Lord on June 25, 2026, at the age of 78.

Lynda was born on January 14, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Tony H. Wright II and Lorraine G. Wright. She was raised in Jennings, MO and graduated from Jennings High School, where she was a cheerleader—a role that perfectly reflected her lifelong spirit of encouragement, enthusiasm, and joy.

On August 3, 1968, Lynda married the love of her life, Monte Perkins, beginning a beautiful marriage that lasted nearly 58 years. Together they built a family rooted in love, faith, kindness, and unwavering support for one another.

Lynda dedicated many years of her career to Omni Hotels, where she built lasting friendships and earned the respect of coworkers through her warmth and dedicated work ethic. Following her retirement, she enjoyed spending several years working alongside her family at Monte Perkins Jewelry, where she treasured the opportunity to work with those she loved.After her retirement from there, she worked at Flower Mound Youth Sports Association as a concession worker and was the main volunteer at the Annual Toy Drive Tournament.

A woman of deep faith, Lynda grew up Baptist and carried her love for God throughout her life. She found joy in reading, especially her daily devotional, cheering on the Texas Rangers, and, most of all, spending precious time with her family.

Our mom loved being festive with holidays, swimming, and had an amazing sense of humor.

Lynda had an extraordinary gift for lifting others up. Whether through a kind word, an infectious smile, or genuine encouragement, she made everyone around her feel valued. She believed in celebrating life and inspiring others to pursue their dreams. Her family remembers that she gave so much grace, encouragement, and purpose to those around her, and she wanted happiness for all of her family and friends. And most importantly Lynda was known for giving the best hugs to anyone that needed one.

She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of almost 58 years, Monte Perkins; her daughters, Cara Nelson and husband Jeff, and Angie Hodges and husband Brian; her sons, Cory Perkins and wife Niki, and Jason Perkins. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jordan Nelson and wife Sydney, Jared Nelson and wife Clemmie, Sydney Hodges, Kaden Hodges, Fallon Hodges, Bailee Sutphen, and Bethany Sutphen. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Remi Nelson and Jack Nelson.

Lynda is also survived by her brothers, Tony Wright and wife Marlene, and Rick Wright, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends who became family throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tony H. Wright II; her mother, Lorraine G. Wright; her sister, Leslye Thomason; and her nephew, Daniel Thomason.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible nurses and physicians who compassionately cared for Lynda throughout her illness. The teams at Baylor, Scott & White will forever hold a special place in their hearts. One of Lynda's final sentiments perfectly captured her appreciation and peace: "I really like it here."

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Baylor Scott and White Dallas Foundation,Make-A-Wish Foundation or Irving Cares, organizations that reflect Lynda's generous heart and desire to bring hope to others.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing that Lynda's legacy of faith, love, kindness, and encouragement will continue through the many lives she touched. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, treasured sister, and faithful friend. Her beautiful spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

In honor of their loved one, the family requests that guests wear red, white, and blue to the funeral service.
