Robert (Bob) Russell Wood, passed away on June 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and a servant heart. He was born on May 2, 1938, in Fordyce, Arkansas, and spent his early years in Washington State, where he attended Okanogan High School in Okanogan, Washington. He later continued his education at North Texas State University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Bob proudly served his country as a Private First Class in the United States Army, demonstrating the dedication, courage, and sense of duty that would continue to define his life. After his military service, he had a successful career in the insurance industry and later retired from Crawford Insurance Company, where he was respected and valued by both colleagues and clients throughout his many years of service.

 His faith was an important foundation throughout his life. As a devoted member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving, Texas, Bob found fellowship, purpose, and spiritual strength that guided him through life’s many seasons. 

Bob enjoyed staying active and spending time with others. He loved running, golf, skiing and fishing, and he found joy in both outdoors and the friendships formed through these pursuits. He also gave generously of his time through volunteer work at Irving Baylor Hospital and Meals on Wheels. He served as a marshal at Bear Creek Golf Club where his love for the sport was passed down to his grandchildren. 

Bob married Juanita Wood on August 28, 1993. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; his son, Christopher Wood; his parents, Edmond and Pearl Wood; and his siblings. Though he experienced great loss throughout his life, he remained a steady and loving presence to those around him.

 He is survived by his son, Brian Wood, and daughter-in-law, Linda, of Argyle, Texas; his daughter-in-law, Janet Wood, of Lantana, Texas; stepdaughter, Angela Bozarth, of North Richland Hills, Texas. Bob was a proud grandfather to Hannah and Ethan Wood, Ashley and her husband, Riley Carter, and Avery Bozarth, and a loving great-grandfather to Miles Carter. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him with love and gratitude.

 A memorial service honoring Bob’s life will be held on June 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Irving, located at 403 South Main Street in Irving, Texas.Burial will follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas, beginning at 3:00 PM.

 As family, friends, and all who knew Bob gather to honor his life, they celebrate a man whose impact was felt through quiet acts of kindness, steadfast loyalty, generous service, and unwavering faith. Robert Russell Wood will be remembered with deep love and respect, and his legacy of integrity, devotion, and compassion will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
