Stephanie Alice Ortiz, born on March 25, 1977, in Dallas, Texas, peacefully passed away on June 4, 2026. Her life journey was one marked by warmth, kindness, and a steadfast commitment to caring for others, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her.
Stephanie was raised in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, where she attended Lassiter Early College High School at El Centro College. Though she did not pursue formal degrees, her education was reflected in the grace and patience she demonstrated throughout her career. For many years, Stephanie dedicated herself to customer support services, where her kind heart and willingness to help lifted the spirits of countless individuals.
Her upbringing in the Jehovah’s Witness faith instilled in her profound lessons of generosity, kindness, and selfless care—principles she carried into every aspect of her life. Stephanie found great joy in spending time with family and friends, delighting in watching movies, playing games, and cherishing moments filled with laughter and love. Those who enjoyed her company knew her as a person with a soft spot for animals, whose affection extended to every creature she met.
On February 29, 2020, Stephanie married Frank Garcia, with whom she shared a loving partnership. She is survived by her devoted husband Frank; her stepsons Jonathan and Justin Garcia; her sister Herlinda Mata; and her brother Angel Ortiz. Her heart was especially full when surrounded by her nephews—Alexander, Andre, Nicholas, and Jason Ortiz—who brought her immense pride and joy. Stephanie was also blessed to have nieces and nephews from her husband’s family, alongside extended relatives who held a cherished place in her life.
Stephanie’s roots run deep in the embrace of her family’s love. Although born to Ernestina Leija, she was lovingly raised and later adopted by her grandmother, Erlinda Ortiz. It was Erlinda’s unwavering guidance and unconditional love that profoundly shaped the woman Stephanie became. This remarkable bond was a cornerstone of her life.
Her laughter, compassion, and tender spirit shone brightly in all that she did. Stephanie’s fondness for cuddling babies, spoiling pets, and sharing a funny animal video were simple yet profound expressions of her big heart. These moments underscored her extraordinary capacity for joy and connection, attributes that will be sorely missed by all who were privileged to know her.
The family invites all who loved Stephanie to pay their respects during a visitation held on June 9, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Chism-Smith Funeral Home, located at 403 South Britain Road, Irving, Texas, 75060.
In honoring Stephanie’s memory, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to a local animal shelter, continuing the legacy of compassion and caring that defined her life.
The family extends their profound gratitude to the National Kidney Foundation for their encouragement and support, which meant so much to Stephanie and her loved ones. They also deeply appreciate the exceptional care and kindness provided by the dedicated teams at Irving Dialysis Center at Baylor Scott & White and Avante Rehabilitation Center, whose compassion brought comfort in her final days.
Stephanie Ortiz’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her grace and generosity—a testament to a life beautifully lived and dearly cherished.
