It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Vernon Wendell West, 63, of Irving, TX on Monday, July 6, 2026. Vernon was born to Lorin Harper and Linda Lou West on November 27, 1962 in Riverton, WY. After graduating from Nimitz High School in 1981, he began his career in HVAC. In 1991, along with his wife, he opened his family business, West Mechanical.
Vernon was a hardworking businessman who instilled those values in his family. He was a straight talker who was true to himself. He never met a stranger and had a story for everything. He frequently shared his well-earned wisdom. He wasn’t one to ask for help, but helped others when he could. He was a strong man with the biggest heart. He was a man with big dreams and ideas. Above all else, Vernon loved his family. He often spoke of how much he loved his wife, Debbie, of 43 years, and how proud he was of his children and grandchildren.
Vernon lived his life to the fullest and had many adventures. Throughout his life he enjoyed golfing, poker, playing washers, “feeding the ponies”, and fishing. He frequently visited Lake Whitney for extended family gatherings and weekend getaways. He also traveled to Galveston as often as he could with Debbie, and sometimes a grandson or two. He was talented in the kitchen and served up many delicious meals and desserts. He enjoyed dancing and had a signature move “the gator”. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his four grandbabies. He was often seen playing baseball, soccer or working on things with them.
Vernon is survived by his devoted wife Debbie West; his son, Clinten (Tiffany) West; his daughter Jodi West (Jacob) Johnson; his four grandsons, Lucas West, Liam Johnson, Lincoln West and Ryder Johnson; his brothers, Kenny (Laura) West, Tracy (Deanna) Latham, and Lorin Dewayne (Sherry) West; his sisters Kelli (Mike) Bergen and Patricia Capuano; his nephews, Kellen Davis and Clint West; and his nieces, Tarah Reed, Jenna West, Lauren Bergholtz, and Hayley Schaare.
He was preceded in death by his father, L.H. West; his mother, Linda Lou (Oneyear) West; his sister, Sherry West; and his uncle, Joe West.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Vernon Wendell West will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 10:00 am at Crown Hill Memorial Park, 9700 Webb Chapel Road, Dallas, TX 75220. All who knew and loved Vernon are invited to join in remembrance as his family lays him to rest.
