Janet Diane Cherry, born on December 15th, 1954, in Red River County, passed away on March 16th, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of Darrell Wayne Smith and Evelyn Marie Taylor.
Janet lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. One of her greatest joys was traveling alongside Fannie and Oscar Starbuck, she enjoyed casinos, indulging in crafts, and creating beautiful memories together. Janet had a heart of gold, and she poured her love into her family, particularly her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, whom she adored and spoiled endlessly.
She is survived by her devoted son Steve Cherry and daughter-in-law Mychelle Cherry, along with her precious grandchildren Caleb & Sarah Cherry, Garrett & Morgan Cherry, and Carson Cherry. Janet was also blessed with great-grandchildren Wyatt & Hollis Cherry and Ace Cherry, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her sisters Vickie Smith and Pam & Steve Jackson, her brother Darren Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve Cherry Sr., her daughter Sharon Wheatley, and her parents Darrell & Evelyn Smith. In her final days, Janet was surrounded by the compassionate care of Porcha, Angela, and Betsy with AleveCare Hospice, as well as the unwavering support of Pam, Steve, and Angela Jackson.
Throughout her life, Janet cherished the enduring friendships she cultivated. She was deeply thankful for the companionship of her long-time friend Cindy Lee and the presence of her cousin Kathy Hudspeth.
Janet Diane Cherry's legacy of love, kindness, and warmth will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, her memory a source of comfort and inspiration to all who loved her.
