Jose Oscar Garza

Jose Oscar Garza, age 54 of Mesquite, TX passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. He was born on December 5, 1966 to Francisco and Julia Garza. They both preceded him in death. Jose married the love of his life, Maria Teresa Garcia on March 25, 2000, without letting a day pass by telling her many times throughout the day how much he loved her. He went to both North Dallas and Skyline High Schools and graduated from Texas A & M University Commerce with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Jose was a teacher and an electrician but a big focus in his life was his Catholic faith. He was a member of Mater Dei Parish. Oscar loved the Traditional Latin Mass and had a devotion to Mother Mary and was an active member of the Legion of Mary (Sancta Maria Mater Dei). He told several of his loved ones, don’t get me flowers when I die, but offer Traditional Catholic Masses for my soul. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bicycling, anything outdoors. He would describe himself as jack-of-all-trades, master of none, kid at heart. If you knew Oscar, you knew exactly what he was thinking by reading his facial expressions. He will be forever missed and the memories of him will be carried in his friends and family's hearts. Keep him in your prayers and pray rosaries for him. He especially loved praying the Sorrowful Mysteries. Survivors include wife Maria Teresa Garza; brother Alfredo Garza and wife Joanna; father and mother-in-law: Cirilo and Luisa Garcia; brother and sister-in-laws: Adrian and Leticia Castañeda, Alejo and Juanita Garcia; nephews: Joaquin Garza, Adrian Castañeda Jr., Jacob Garcia, Joshua Garcia; nieces: Gabrielle Garza, Julianna Garza, Yulisa Castañeda, Lisette Castañeda, Sophia Velasquez and many uncles/aunts, cousins, and friends. The viewing will be from 10:15 until 10:45 on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Mater Dei Catholic Parish in Irving. Rosary will be recited at 10:45 with Mass following at 11:15. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive family and friends for condolences at reception following burial at Mater Dei Social Hall.
