Michelle Fleming Obituary

Michelle Denise Fleming was born to the proud parents Rodney and Sylvia Barnes in Los Angeles, California, August 30, 1970.

Michelle began her formal education at the YWCA Head Start program. She also attended Marcus Garvey, 59th Street Elementary, Foshay Junior and graduated from Inglewood High School with honors. Michelle pursued her love for education in teaching receiving her Associate degree at El Camino and East Los Angeles colleges; her Bachelor of Arts degree at California State University, Dominguez Hills and her Masters degree at the University of Southern California.

After graduation, she began her career in teaching with Los Angeles Unified School District, teaching in their Special Education Program.

Michelle was a strong Christian and believed Jesus Christ is the son of God and trusted and believed in him every day of her life.

She met and married the love of her life, Robert Fleming on August 31, 2002. The family relocated to Dallas, Texas in 2004. Michelle continued her Special Educational career with the Grand Prairie, Texas School District, until she retired in 2013. Although retired, her love for teaching did not end. She began private tutoring for friends and family. After relocating, God blessed them with two beautiful children; a son, Robert, Jr. and a daughter Robyn Michelle.

Michelle always cared about people, she had a gentle spirit, was very kind hearted and a very loving person. One of the greatest gifts she possessed was the art of being a great listener. She enjoyed traveling, the sound of old school music, along with good food surrounded by her family. She met no strangers. Her closest friends, Kenisha Martin, Natalya Maddox, Chantel Hill, Tinisha McDowell, T’Shaunda Davis, Valencia Chapin, Lillian Parks, Meschelle Barnes, Carletha Cephas, Donna Ball, Michelle Anderson, and Candice Teague can surely attest to this.

Michelle received her greatest inspiration from her husband, Robert, her mother, Sylvia Guillaume, her cousin Terri Gibson, Robyn’s God Parents, Jonathan and Natalya Maddox, and her church family at Concord Baptist Church, where Bryan L. Carter is the Senior Pastor.

Michelle departed from this earth at 9:11pm on February 1, 2021. The world has lost a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. She will be sorely missed forever as she rests in God’s loving arms.
Left to mourn her memories are her husband Robert, her daughter, Robyn, step-daughters Jasmine and Ashley Fleming, her mother Sylvia Guillaume, her step-father Francois, Sr., two brothers, Francois Jr. and Kristopher Guillaume, uncle Alan Devoe, aunt Janice Barnes, uncle John Barnes, uncle James Blue, uncle Mark Bryan, Grandfather Oscar Barnes, Cousin Terri Gibson, aunt Mary Easton, in-laws, Donald and Delphia Fleming, nieces, nephews, her Concord Church family, many, many close and closest friends, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
