Patti Hooten Obituary

Patti Lynne Hooten, beloved wife, mother, mimi, educator, and community advocate, passed away on April 16th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. She was born on February 7th, 1949, in Kermit, Texas, to Jennings and Ruth Gilbert.

Raised by her parents and grandparents in Russellville, Arkansas, Patti's early years were shaped by the values of family and community. She graduated from Russellville High School in 1967 and pursued higher education at Arkansas Tech University, where she laid the foundation for her lifelong passion for teaching. Later, she earned her master's degree from North Texas University, further honing her skills and dedication to education.

Patti dedicated nearly three decades of her life to nurturing young minds as a teacher for the Irving Independent School District. Her commitment to her students was unwavering, leaving an indelible mark on the countless lives she touched. She imparted not only knowledge but also a sense of curiosity, compassion, and resilience.

Beyond her professional life, Patti was deeply involved in her community. She was a proud member of the Irving Noon Day Lions Club, where she tirelessly worked to uplift those in need. Additionally, her involvement with Canine Companions for Independence showcased her compassionate nature and dedication to serving others.

In her leisure time, Patti found joy in quilting, sewing, and cherishing moments with her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she delighted in their laughter and achievements.

On August 12th, 1977, Patti married the love of her life, William "Bill" Hooten, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Though preceded in death by Bill, their bond continues to inspire those who knew them.

Patti is survived by her loving children, Brian Hooten and wife, Michelle, of Dallas, TX, Chad Hooten and wife, Samantha, of Austin, TX, and Lindsey Hooten of Frisco, TX. Her grandchildren, Maggie, Steel, and Jack, brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Gilbert of Dover, AR.

Patti's life exemplified the virtues of compassion, generosity, and resilience. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lions Project  for Canine Companions for Independence would honor her memory and continue her legacy of service. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. Patti will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
