Sandra Story Obituary

Sandra Corlene Story of Trinidad, Texas stepped into glory Sunday, February 27, 2022. Sandy touched countless lives through her selfless giving and family ministry. Sandy never met a stranger, making each person she met feel special and cared for. Because of her genuine and kind-spirit she is revered and loved by all. Sandy will be severely missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Sandy was born February 28, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Charles L. and Hazel Lorene Brown. Sandy was the oldest of three children. She enjoyed piano, dance, cheerleading and was an all-state basketball player. She was Miss CHS, Best All Around, Harvest Queen and Homecoming Sweetheart. She graduated valedictorian of Coppell High School and obtained her associates degree in child development from Eastfield College. Sandy married her best friend and high school sweetheart Wayne Story on June 11, 1966 and was with him for the rest of her life. Together, they had two children, Andy and Amos, who she raised to be kind, loving men.

Sandy owned and operated early childhood centers across the Dallas area for over 40 years. The Dallas chapter of the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children presented Sandy with the Margaret Cone award for her contribution to the profession. Sandy also received both the Shirley Welch award and the mentor of the year award by Angela Clay, author of Loving the Me I See.

Even after surviving three battles with cancer, Sandy refused to stop doing what she loved. She moved to Cedar Creek Lake to “retire” in her later years, but taking a break was not in her nature. Sandy continued to serve those around her by volunteering at Tool Elementary School and ministering to children at church.

Sandy lived the kind of life for which we should all strive. In all she did, she personified God’s love, treated everyone with grace, and spread joy in abundance. She celebrated Christmas 365 days a year and had a song for every occasion.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Wayne; her son, William “Andy” Story and her daughter-in-law, Mary Story; her grandchildren, Whitney Story, Wade Story, Wesley Story, and Macy Story; her grand-daughter-in-law, Skyler Story; her brother, Len Brown; her sister, Rhonda Elwell and her brother-in-law, John Elwell. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. and Hazel Lorene Brown and her son, Wayne “Amos” Story.

You are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life Memorial on Saturday, March 5 at 10 a.m. The service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Irving, 211 W 3rd St, Irving, TX 75060.
