Timothy Mayfield Obituary

Timothy Shelton Mayfield, age 57, passed away peacefully on February 25th, 2024 with his family by his side.  Born on March 2, 1966, he was the cherished son of Harold and Shawnee (Nee) Mayfield.

Raised in the heart of Irving, Texas, he graduated from Irving High School and furthered his education at North Lake College.  His professional endeavors spanned a diverse spectrum, from working at the family-owned fruit stand and the City of Irving,to esteemed positions at Tennant Company, Next Step Salon Consultants and Geo Systems.  Tim’s father always instilled the value of working hard, and with each job, Tim proved to be knowledgeable, dependable, and was always ready to take on any new challenges.

Guided by faith, Tim found solace and community at Faith Temple Baptist and Oakview Baptist Church.  There, he set an example by teaching Bible Fellowship classes to middle school boys.

In his younger years, Tim enjoyed riding dirt bikes and was an avid hunter.   Tim and his dad enjoyed following high school football and would often travel to attend an exciting game in person.  He was renowned for his encyclopedic knowledge and infectious enthusiasm for high school and college football andcould quote many statistics for teams and players.

On September 9th, 2005, he pledged his heart to Christina, embarking on a journey of shared dreams and unwavering companionship.   They had two beautiful children, Kailyn Nicole, and Mason Loy.   The family enjoyed taking short vacations, and Tim reveled in the company of his family while enjoying the serene landscapes of Tennessee and Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Tim was a self-taught computer expert and became very proficient.  He would often spend his free time building computers for family and friends, and he was known as the one to call if someone had computer-related issues.  He delighted in sharing his knowledge with Mason, fostering a bond over technology.

Beyond his love for sports and computers, Tim and his daughter, Kailyn shared a passion for music and movies, and formed an unbreakable bond that echoed through time.

Tim’s quick wit and contagious humor left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.  He found immense joy in witnessing his son, Mason following in his footsteps, fostering a legacy of wisdom and laughter.

Although quiet at times, it seemed that he never met a stranger, and was often teased that he could carry on a long conversation with a stranger while pumping gas; especially if he noticed a common interest in trucks or dogs.  Tim enjoyed taking the family out to eat and could be a very adventurous eater willing to try almost anything.  He was always looking at Yelp reviews for a new hamburger or BBQ place for the family to experience, even if it meant driving a few hours away.  He loved finding that “hole in the wall” place and sharing them with family and friends.

Tim leaves behind a profound legacy of love and kindness.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 18 years, Christina and beloved 12-year-old son, Mason.  He is also lovingly remembered by his brother, Loy Mayfield (Susan), sister, Sandra Roseberry (Kenny), lifelong friend Bryon Wyatt and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kailyn Nicole, his parents, and both paternal and maternal grandparents. His family and friends will miss him dearly, but know that he is whole again, he is no longer suffering with health problems, and more importantly, is reunited with his daughter.

Though his physical presence has transitioned, Tim’s spirit resonates in the hearts of all who were touched by his compassion, humor, and boundless love.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Kidney Foundation, honoring Tim’s enduring legacy of generosity and kindness.

May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memories forever be treasured by those whose lives he touched.
