Emma Jo Massengale, 80, of Rhome (formerly of Irving), passed away on April 1, 2020. She was the wife of Thomas Wayne Massengale whom she loved dearly and was married to for 43 years.

Born Emma Jo Savage in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of Joe and Emma Lee Savage. She graduated from Irving High School in 1958 where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She worked many jobs throughout her life, but at the time of her retirement, she was the head clerk for a Judge in Irving.

She grew up attending the Church of Christ. She loved family get togethers, shopping for bargains, reading and she also had a great love for cats. She will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor and her love of family.

She is survived by her husband Thomas Wayne Massengale; Daughter Laura Edwards (and family); Son Doug Carner; step-daughters Stephanie Garcia (and family) and Michelle Massengale (and family). She was also blessed with three grandchildren and five step grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Lucian Savage (and family) and sister Christie Gentry (and family) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Craig Carner; her parents Joe & Emma Lee Savage and her brother Lynn Savage, as well as many other loved ones.

Interment will be at Sowers Cemetery. Due to the current restrictions on gatherings at this time, a memorial service will be held as soon as possible once restrictions have been lifted.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association.

Wayne, Doug, Laura, Christie and Lucian-losing someone so close is always hard.  I pray for each of you guys and the rest of the family and friends as we miss her presence.  She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to so many people.  Take comfort in knowing there is no pain in her life now, and she's filled with the peace of God's loving embrace.

Mom, you were my best friend and my rock. Wherever you were was home and your love was unconditional. Your grandchildren are also devastated by the loss of their precious Grandma Texas. You spoiled us all so much with your sweetness and love and we are thankful to have been so blessed. I will miss you every day until I see you again. All my love forever, Laura
